Abstract

This workshop presents recent advancements in human-autonomy interaction and integration, motivated by growing research on safe co-robots in industrial environments, autonomous and assisted driving, human-on-the-loop control and monitoring of vehicle swarms, and assist-as-needed control of wearable robotics. While canonical control system design and analysis tools have addressed a subset of these problems, research in this domain still requires a careful balance between model-based and learning-based methods, and between full autonomy and human guidance, particularly given the lack of first-principles models for human intentions and behaviors.
The workshop focuses on the role of the CDC control community in tackling fundamental challenges including joint decision making, verifiable safety, learning-based adaptation, workload and comfort management, and trust calibration and control. It aims to report recent research achievements, identify open challenges, and review testbeds and facilities in this area. Following the successful series of workshops at ACC 2021, 2022, 2023, and the half-day session at RO-MAN 2026, this fifth edition at CDC 2026 will facilitate in-depth discussion of recent advances and future directions in human-autonomy interaction and integration through the lens of systems and control theory.
The workshop expects more than 30 participants from academia, industry, and government labs, spanning fields such as game theory, human behavior modeling, robot learning, and wearable robotics.
